Woman claims driver struck her car as she exited Wood River Wal-Mart

Car accident 27

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver, alleging he negligently struck her vehicle while she was exiting the Wal-Mart parking lot in Wood River.

Jasmyn Hair filed a complaint on May 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jacob Jacoby, alleging he failed to operate his motor vehicle in a careful manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 30, 2016, she was injured when Jacoby negligently operated his vehicle and caused it to collide with the plaintiff's vehicle as she was exiting the Wal-Mart in Wood River, turning onto Wesley.

As a result, the plaintiff claims she suffered injuries that required her to spend money for necessary medical care, treatment and services, the suit claims.

The plaintiff alleges Jacoby failed to maintain a proper lookout and failed to timely apply brakes and avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this suit.

She is represented by John H. Hustava of John Hustava, Attorney at Law, in Collinsville.
