EDWARDSVILLE — A man is suing Turtle Wax Inc., alleging he developed acute mycloid leukemia from the benzene allegedly used in the wax.

Matthew Eaton filed a complaint on May 12 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Turtle Wax Inc., alleging the wax manufacturer wrongfully caused him to develop a benzene-related disease.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Turtle Wax included benzene in its product, which allegedly caused Eaton to develop acute mycloid leukemia.

As a result, Eaton claims he suffers physical pain and mental anguish. He also claims he became obligated to expend large sum of money for necessary medical care and treatment.

The plaintiff alleges Turtle Wax should have known that benzene was toxic and adequate substitutes were available.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages in excess of $50,000 and all other relief as this court may deem appropriate.

He is represented by Christopher W. Dysart of The Dysart Law Firm PC in Chesterfield, Mo.
