BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing a truck driver and his employer, alleging the truck driver rear-ended him while attempting to change lanes on Interstate 55.

Jamie L. Devries filed a complaint on April 6 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Warren Transport Inc. and Mark J. Conklin, alleging the driver failed to exercise reasonable care and caution in the operation, guidance and control of his vehicle to avoid causing injuries.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 24, 2015, his vehicle collided with Warren's Transport's truck being driven by its employee, Conklin. Devries allege his vehicle was rear-ended when Conklin attempted to switch lanes while both were traveling southbound on Interstate 55 in St. Clair County.

As a result, Devries claims he suffered physical injuries and loss of normal life and incurred medical bills.

The plaintiff alleges Conklin allegedly failed to yield right of way, failed to keep a proper lookout and changed lanes without first determining that such lane change could be made safely.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount that substantially exceeds $50,000, plus costs and other further relief to which the court deems proper.

He is represented by Brian J. Lewis of Gibson Lewis in Waukegan.
