BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing Casino Queen for allegedly overserving a patron who later caused a fatal car crash.
Virginia Miller, as special representative for Harold Miller, deceased, filed a complaint on March 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Casino Queen Inc., alleging it violated the Liquor Control Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 29, 2016, Harold Miller died when his vehicle was struck from behind on Interstate 64 in St. Clair County by Shawn Heilman, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time.
As a result, the plaintiff claims she suffered loss of companionship and society of decedent, as well as grief, sorrow and mental suffering.
The plaintiff alleges Casino Queen negligently sold and gave liquor to Heilman, causing him to become intoxicated.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this suit.
