EDWARDSVILLE — A Madison County woman is suing a Granite City woman for allegedly causing a rear-end collision.
Christine Collins filed a complaint on March 30 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jemia Middleton alleging she failed to operate her car safely.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 16, 2016, she was in the left hand turn lane stopped at a red light, preparing to turn left onto Horseshoe Lake Road from Illinois Route 111. She claims the plaintiff then struck the rear end of her vehicle.
As a result, Collins claims she suffered physical injuries and lost wages and incurred medical bills.
The plaintiff alleges Middleton failed to keep a proper lookout, drove her vehicle in a reckless manner, failed to obey a traffic control device and failed to sound an audible horn warning.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for an amount in excess of $50,000 plus costs of the action and any further relief the court deems just.
She is represented by Ellen R. Burford of Burford Law Office in Granite City.
