Woman claims commercial trucker struck her in Centralia

Car accident 25

EDWARDSVILLE — A driver is suing a trucking company and its employee for alleged negligence while operating a company vehicle.

Barbara Reese filed a complaint on March 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court alleging that defendant Holmes failed his duty to act reasonably in a careful manner so as to not to injure or damage any person in the roadway.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 19, 2015, her vehicle was struck near the intersection of Noleman and Lincoln streets in Centralia.

As a result, Reese claims she suffered physical injuries and loss of her normal life and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because Tracy Trucking, based in Marine, allegedly failed to train its driver in the safe operation of the commercial vehicle while driver Holmes failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to reduce speed to avoid a collision with another vehicle and failed to sound a warning of his approach.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus her costs of suit and for such further relief as the court deems proper. She is represented by Alan G. Pirtle and Lisa Tsacoumangos of Brown and Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
