Woman sues Better Backers, employee over collision

Car accident 09

EAST ST. LOUIS — A Mt. Vernon resident is suing a motorist and his employer for allegedly causing a rear-end collision.

Loretta J. Englebright filed a complaint on April 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Jacob Lee Jones and Better Backers, Inc., alleging Jones failed to properly operate his motor vehicle causing a collision.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 13, 2016, she was traveling westbound in Washington County when Jones allegedly hit the rear-end of her vehicle.

As a result, Englebright claims she suffered physical injuries, lost wages and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Jones allegedly failed to reduce speed, failed to keep proper lookout and failed to operate vehicle in a safe manner while he was acting within the course and scope of his employment to Better Backers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages, pre and post-judgment interest, costs of this action and for any other relief the Court deems just and proper.

She is represented by Terry A. White of Olsen and White, LLP in Evansville, Ind.
