Motorist sues over Glen Carbon collision

Car accident 08

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a rear-end collision.

Julie Horton filed a complaint on March 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Stephen Marit, alleging he failed to exercise reasonable care to avoid colliding with other vehicles.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 22, 2015, Horton claims her vehicle was struck in the rear while travelling on Main Street near the intersection of Edwards Street in Glen Carbon.

As a result, Horton claims she suffered physical injuries, lost wages and incurred medical bills.

The plaintiff alleges Marit failed to reduce speed, failed to keep proper lookout, failed to be attentive and to obey the rules of the road.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs and for other relief this Court deems just and proper.

She is represented by Matthew P. Young of Kuehn, Beasley and Young, PC in Belleville.
