BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing over an accident that took place in September 2015 in O'Fallon.
Enrique R. Zuniga filed a complaint against Kaitlin M. Carpenter in St. Clair County Circuit Court alleging that the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care in the operation and control of her vehicle.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 8, 2015, he was travelling northbound in his 2013 Honda CRV on North Greenmount Road at the intersection of West Highway 50 when he collided with defendant's vehicle. As a result, Zuniga claims he suffered physical injuries, lost of earnings and incurred medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Carpenter responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout for other automobiles and disobeyed a traffic signal by driving through a red light.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in a sum in excess of $50,000 plus costs of suit and any other further relief the Court deems just and proper. He is represented by Jeffrey A. Kopis of Kopis Law in Belleville.
