BELLEVILLE — A driver and passenger are suing motorist Carolyn Miller, citing alleged negligence caused a collision.
Isabella Hodges and Susan Jennifer Hodges filed a complaint on March 6 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Miller, alleging that the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care in the operation and control of her vehicle.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 15, 2015, the defendant's vehicle collided with the driver's side of a vehicle driven by Isabella Hodges while the plaintiffs where traveling eastbound on Salem Place in Fairview Heights. As a result, the plaintiffs suffered physical injuries, pain and incurred medical expenses. The plaintiffs hold Miller responsible because she allegedly failed to properly yield to the plaintiffs' vehicle, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce the speed of her vehicle in approaching an intersection and failed to apply brakes in sufficient time to avoid collision.
The plaintiffs seek judgment in excess of $50,000 plus costs of suit and any other further relief the court deems just and proper. They are represented by Jeffrey A. Kopis of Kopis Law in Belleville.
