AT&T, employee accused of negligence following crash

Car accident 33

BELLEVILLE — A St. Libory man is suing a motorist and his employer, AT&T, for allegedly causing a crash with the company's vehicle.

Charles Otten filed a complaint on Feb. 17 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Tomasz Chalecki and Illinois Bell Telephone Company, doing business as AT&T, alleging Chalecki failed to exercise ordinary care and caution while operating the company vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 27, 2015, he was traveling southbound on Route 4 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 in Lebanon when he collided with Chalecki, hitting the front side of his vehicle.

As a result, Otten claims he suffered physical injuries and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Chalecki failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, failed to properly apply brakes of his vehicle, and failed to stop at the stop sign and yield to the right of way of other vehicles.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus cost of this suit and all other relief the court deems just and proper.

He is represented by Chet A. Foley of Foley and Kelly LLC in Belleville.
