EDWARDSVILLE — A customer alleges she was injured when she slipped on water at the Alton Shop n' Save.
Tiffany Milburn filed a complaint on Feb. 15, in the Madison County Circuit Court against Supervalu Inc., alleging it breached its duty to exercise ordinary care to see to ensure its store was reasonably safe.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 6, 2015, she was a business invitee at the defendant's Shop n' Save store in Alton. While exiting the restroom, she claims she slipped and fell on water that had dripped on the floor.
She allegedly sustained injuries that required medical surgery and incurred medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to discover and fix the damaged pipe to prevent water on the floor and failed to warn its customers using the restroom of the existence of the hazardous condition.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this suit and such other relief that are just and proper.
