Motorist says driver backed into her vehicle

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly hitting her vehicle while attempting to back out of a parking spot at the same time.

Cheryl Seger filed a complaint on Feb. 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against David Hill, alleging the he failed to back his vehicle in a safe manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 2, 2015, she was backing her vehicle out of her parking space, attempting to leave a parking lot in the City of Collinsville. Hill was parked on the opposite side of the plaintiff's vehicle and backed out at the same time, hitting the driver's side of Seger's vehicle.

The collision caused Seger to sustain injuries resulting in pain and suffering and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to maintain careful lookout and failed to timely apply brakes and stop his vehicle to avoid collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus costs of the suit.

She is represented by John H. Hustava of John Hustava of Collinsville.
