EDWARDSVILLE — An Edwardsville woman is suing suing State Farm and her former landlord for allegedly wrongfully accusing her of vandalism in an attempt to remedy a code violation.

Megan Sallee filed a lawsuit on Feb. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court against State Farm Insurance, Walter Volentine, Becky Volentine and David Volentine, alleging they wrongfully accused her of vandalism and malicious mischief.

According to the complaint, Sallee alleges State Farm and the Volentines conspired and created an opportunity to obtain coverage to pay for their code violations. State Farm demanded she pay $10,929.23 for the alleged vandalism, causing her to become alarmed, disturbed and distressed.

Sallee alleges the defendants created an opportunity to pursue subrogation from an alleged vandalism that the plaintiff did not commit.

Sallee seeks trial by jury and compensation exceeding $300,000.

She is represented by attorney Greg Roosevelt of Roosevelt Law Office in Edwardsville.
