Woman alleges negligent debt collection practices

Law money 01

EAST ST. LOUIS — A woman claims a debt collector negligently failed to note that she had disputed a debt on her account.

Roslyn Gray filed a complaint on Jan. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Jefferson Capitol Systems LLC, alleging the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendant re-reported a debt to a credit reporting agency and failed to note that the account was disputed by Gray.

As a result of the defendant's alleged unfair debt collection practices, Gray claims she has suffered damages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, attorney fees, costs and for any such other and further relief this court may deem just and proper.

She is represented by Yaakov Saks of RC Law Group PLLC in Hackensack, N.J.
