BELLEVILLE — A motorist and passenger are suing another driver for allegedly running a red light and causing a collision.
Nancy J. Geiger and James A. Laux filed a complaint on Dec. 22 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Cindy M. Pfeiffer, alleging she failed to comply with the rule of the road.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Sept. 6, 2015, Geiger was operating a motor vehicle with Laux as a passenger. They were traveling westbound on West A Street, approaching its intersection with North 3rd Street, when Pfeiffer allegedly disobeyed the displayed red traffic stop light and struck the plaintiffs' vehicle.
As a result, they claim they sustained severe and permanent injuries.
The plaintiffs allege Pfeiffer breached her duty to operate her vehicle in a safe and prudent manner, failed to yield right of way and failed to maintain careful lookout.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in favor in excess of $50,000 for each plaintiff, plus costs of this suit.
They are represented by Matthew J. Marlen of Matthew J. Marlen PC in Belleville.
