EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing an East Alton collision.
David Mayhall filed a complaint on Jan. 6, in the Madison County Circuit Court against Eric J. Phillips, alleging he operated his vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 19, 2015, he was operating a 1993 Chevrolet Suburban traveling easterly upon West St. Louis Street in East Alton. At the same time and place, Phillips was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 behind plaintiff's vehicle when suddenly and without warning, he negligently struck the rear of plaintiff's vehicle, the suit states.
As a result, Mayhall alleges he sustained injuries that resulted in physical and emotional pain.
The plaintiff alleges the defendant followed him to closely and failed to timely reduce speed, swerve or stop his vehicle to avoid collision.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit.
