EDWARDSVILLE — A man is suing a property owner after he allegedly fell on a wooden step in the garage.

Charles Wallace filed a complaint on Dec. 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Robyn Hamlin, alleging the property owner breached her duty of reasonable care.

According to the complaint, Wallace alleges that on April 7, 2015, he was exiting the garage at Hamlin's property when he stepped on a defective wooden stair, causing him to fall and sustain injuries that required past and future medical treatment.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently rented her property in a dangerous condition and failed to repair or replace the defective wooden stair.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit.

He is represented by Rob L. Perica and Tess M. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River.
