Motorcyclist says motorist pulled out in front of him

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorcyclist claims a motorist negligently pulled out in front of him in Alton.

Joseph Richards filed a complaint on Dec. 5, in the Madison County Circuit Court against Michael Shore, alleging he breached his duty to exercise reasonable care in operating his motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 24, he was operating his Harley Davidson, traveling east on Broadway in Alton. At the same time, the defendant attempted to turn left from a private lane, causing Richards' motorcycle to strike Shore's vehicle.

As a result, Richards claims he sustained life-threatening injuries that caused him to suffer lost wages, medical expenses and loss of enjoyment of life.

Richards alleges Shore failed to maintain proper lookout, failed keep proper control of the vehicle and negligently pulled out into oncoming traffic.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation in an amount exceeding $50,000, costs for this action and all other relief as the court deems reasonable.
