BELLEVILLE — A man claims his father died as a result of medical negligence, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent his injuries following medical procedures.
Barrett Brooks, special administrator of the estate of Larry E. Brooks, deceased, filed a complaint on Nov. 4, in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Robert Lee M.D., Vascular and Hand Surgery Ltd. and St. Elizabeth's Hospital of the Hospitals Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, alleging the defendants breached their duty to exercise the knowledge, skill and care of a qualified healthcare provider.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in November 2014, the decedent underwent several medical procedures under the defendants care. On Nov. 28, 2014, he developed Asystole and died at 8:28 p.m.
As a result Barrett Brooks claims he suffered loss of love, companionship, society and support.
The plaintiff alleges Lee failed to the perform appropriate or correct surgical procedure and failed to respond timely and appropriately to the decedent's postoperative care.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000.
