Contegra Construction alleges subcontractor abandoned project before completion

EDWARDSVILLE – An Edwardsville general contractor alleges a subcontractor it partnered with failed to meet deadlines and abandoned the project before completion.

Contegra Construction Co. LLC filed a complaint on Nov. 2, in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jones Builders Co. LLC alleging breach of contract and fraud.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges it entered into a subcontracting agreement wherein the defendant would provide labor, materials and services for three projects.

Contegra Construction alleges Jones Builders failed to provide a sufficient number of workers, failed to provide knowledgeable and qualified workers, abandoned the project before completion and made improper claims for payment.

As a result of defendant's actions, the plaintiff alleges it suffered damages, including but not limited to cost for remediating and repairing defendant's defective work and completing the scope of work with substitute labor, contractors and suppliers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $50,000, punitive damages, interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other just and proper relief.
