Woman alleges trip and fall at Scootr's West

Slip01

BELLEVILLE — A woman claims she was injured in a trip and fall at Scootr's West.

Marjorie Groom filed a complaint on Oct. 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jenny's LLC, d/b/a Scootr's West, alleging that the business breached its duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 9, she was attempting to step down from the stage inside the defendant's premises in Freeburg when she tripped and fell, causing her to sustain permanent injuries.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to provide handrails or assist persons attempting to step down from the stage and failed to warn its invitees about the tripping hazard created by the dangerous elevation from the stage to the floor.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this suit and all other relief that the court may deem just. She is represented by Robert G. Wuller Jr. of Neville, Richards & Wuller LLC in Belleville.
