Passenger claims motorist caused crash injuries

Car accident 44

BELLEVILLE — A vehicle passenger is suing Patricia A. Thompson, a Belleville motorist who was driving another vehicle, alleging negligence in connection with a collision.

Karen M. Lowery filed a complaint on Oct. 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Thompson, alleging that the Belleville motorist breached her duty to exercise reasonable care in the operation of her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct 24, 2014, she was a passenger, lawfully riding in a vehicle being driven by Monica R. Plasterer, when the defendant who was driving her vehicle directly behind them, negligently caused her vehicle to collide with their vehicle. As a result, she has suffered serious injuries resulting in pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages and benefits. The plaintiff holds Thompson responsible because the defendant allegedly drove her vehicle too fast for the conditions, failed to avoid colliding with the vehicle wherein the plaintiff was a passenger and failed to maintain proper control of her vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for damages in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus costs of this suit. She is represented by Rhonda D. Fiss of The Law Office of Rhonda D. Fiss PC in Belleville.
