By Michael Abella | Nov 16, 2016

BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing fellow driver Irina C. Hassenplug, alleging negligence in connection with a collision.

Jason Grau filed a complaint on Oct. 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Hassenplug, alleging that she failed to keep proper control of her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 20, he was operating his motor vehicle in a northerly direction along Troy O'Fallon Road in Jarvis Township when the defendant, coming from the opposite direction, crossed the center line and struck his vehicle, causing him severe injuries. He has suffered great pain, mental aguish, disability and medical expenses, he claims. The plaintiff holds Hassenplug responsible because she allegedly failed to maintain proper lookout, negligently allowed her vehicle to cross the center line and carelessly drove her vehicle at a speed faster then reasonable.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in a sum in excess of $50,000, plus cost of this suit. He is represented by Bruce R. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin Ltd. in Belleville.
