BELLEVILLE – An insurance company is seeking the costs it paid to a Cahokia resident for damages after an accident at the intersection of state Route 3 and Eighth Street in East St. Louis.
Founders Insurance Co., as subrogated party of Kenya Terrell, filed a complaint on Oct. 14 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Tramel L. Harris alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 17, 2014, Kenya Terrell was operating plaintiff's insured vehicle when the defendant caused the front of his vehicle to collide with the rear of plaintiff's vehicle, causing extensive damage to plaintiff's vehicle and injuries to Terrell. The plaintiff paid its insured the sum of $20,000, the suit states.
The plaintiff holds Harris responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain proper lookout, failed to yield right of way and operated his vehicle in a careless manner.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in the amount of $20,000, plus attorney's fees, costs and for such other and further relief. They are represented by T. Darin Boggs of Boggs, Avellino, Lach & Boggs LLC in St. Louis.
