By Michael Abella | Nov 16, 2016

BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing her father for allegedly using funds intended for her college education to pay off debts.

Clarissa Mueth filed a complaint on Oct. 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jeffrey Mueth, alleging that the father breached his duty under the Uniform Transfers to Minors Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she has been deprived of funds she needed to pay for her college expenses and has been required to obtain loans and pay interest.

The plaintiff alleges her father converted money he was required to keep as a custodian of the UTMA account and used it to purchase a car and pay his personal debts.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus punitive damages, pre-judgment interest and for her costs of suit. She is represented by Rhonda D. Fiss of The Law Office of Rhonda D. Fiss in Belleville.
