Shopper alleges injuries from slip and fall

Slip02

BELLEVILLE — A patron is suing Shop N Save Warehouse Foods Inc. and Supervalue Inc., grocery store operators, alleging negligence in connection with a slip and fall.

Deveon Edwards filed a complaint on Sept. 30 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they breached their duty to exercise reasonable care in the operation of their grocery store.

The complaint alleges that on Aug 8, 2015, while lawfully walking, shopping and/or purchasing items inside the defendants' premises, the plaintiff slipped and violently fell on the ground, sustaining severe and permanent injuries.

The plaintiff suffered great pain and suffering, lost wages and incurred and will continue to incur medical related expenses, the suit alleges.

The plaintiff holds Shop N Save Warehouse Foods Inc. and Supervalue Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a good, safe and proper place to shop, negligently allowed a slippery substance to accumulate on the floor and failed to warn its guests of the dangerous condition that existed on its premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for damages in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus costs of this suit. The plaintiff is represented by Daniel R. Seidman of Seidman Margulis & Fairman LLP in Belleville.
