BELLEVILLE – A shopper alleges a case of water in an aisle at a Dollar General store caused her to fall.

Shalitha Dukes filed a complaint on Sept. 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against DG Retail LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was lawfully on defendant's premises in Marissa as a paying customer on July 24. While approaching the checkout counter, the suit states she tripped on a case of water that caused her to fall and sustain injuries, which resulted in pain and suffering, disability and expenses for necessary medical care and treatment.

The plaintiff alleges DG Retail LLC caused and permitted the property to become and remain in a dangerous condition and failed to keep its premises safe for its patrons.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for a fair and just award of more than $50,000, plus costs of this suit. She is represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina M. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Rich, Rich & Cooksey PC in Fairview Heights.
