Law money 06

BELLEVILLE — A former employee is suing Beelman Truck Co., a trucking company, citing alleged retaliation and wrongful termination.

Tina Gregory filed a complaint on Sept. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Beelman Truck Co. alleging that the trucking company violated the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 9, 2015, she suffered a workplace injury and took time off work, sought medical help and applied for workers' compensation benefits. She claims she was terminated, resulting in loss of wages and benefits and other damages. The plaintiff holds Beelman Truck Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against her for exercising her rights and terminated her employment on July 15.

The plaintiff seeks an award in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit and punitive damages. She is represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Rich, Rich & Cooksey PC in Fairview Heights.
