Shopper alleges injuries from slip and fall at Wal-Mart

BELLEVILLE — A woman claims she was injured when she slipped and fell on water while entering a Wal-Mart store.

Raghda A. Salah filed a complaint on Sept. 9, in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wal-mart Stores Inc., Donald E. Bremer and Courtnie Springman, retail store operators, alleging that they negligently allowed the existence of the dangerous condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 10, 2014, she was entering the defendants' premises with the intent to shop when she allegedly slipped and fell due to a liquid substance on the floor.

She alleges she sustained serious injuries that resulted in physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, loss of earning capacity and medical related expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to warn patrons of the hazard and failed to remove the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant Wal-mart store in a sum in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Lea A. Captain of Cook, Ysura, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin Ltd. in Belleville.
