BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County driver and two passengers are suing another motorist, alleging the defendant's negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiffs.
Debbie Blaylock, Darvon Blaylock and Danjovah Smith filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Andre Henson, alleging the defendant negligently disregarded a traffic control sign.
According to the complaint, on July 5, Debbie Blaylock was driving a motor vehicle southbound on Jerome Lane in Cahokia when Henson's car struck the side of Blaylock's vehicle. The suit says the crash caused the three plaintiffs to sustain injuries to their heads and bodies.
The lawsuit states the injuries led to pain and suffering, disability and money spent for medical care and treatment. The plaintiffs allege Henson failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes and failed to yield right of way.
The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. They are represented by attorneys Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Rich, Rich & Cooksey PC in Fairview Heights.
