BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County woman is suing a motorist, alleging negligence in causing a vehicle crash that injured the plaintiff.
Reakil Abdus Salaam filed a lawsuit Aug. 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Jerome Lockett, alleging negligence in that the defendant followed the plaintiff's vehicle too closely.
According to the complaint, on July 28, 2015, Salaam was driving east on Thouvenot Lane in Shiloh when Lockeet caused a collision and injured the plaintiff. As a result of the crash, Salaam was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled.
The plaintiff alleges Lockett failed to keep proper lookout, failed to properly apply the brakes and operated his vehicle an excessive rate of speed.
Salaam seeks trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by attorney John H. Hustava of Collinsville.
