Driver blames another motorist for causing crash

Car accident 06

EDWARDSVILLE — A Madison County woman is suing a motorist, alleging the defendant's negligence caused a car crash that injured the plaintiff.

Connie Jennings filed a lawsuit Aug. 30 in Madison County Circuit Court against William Bricker, alleging negligence in failing to keep his vehicle under proper control.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 23, 2014, Jennings was driving a 2006 Cadillac SRX southbound in the left lane of Interstate Highway 39 in El Paso Township. At the same time, Bricker, who was traveling on the right lane of the same road, sideswiped Jennings' vehicle, the suit said.

The crash, the lawsuit states, caused injuries to Jennings' head and body that resulted in great pain, mental anguish, lost wages and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges Bricker failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely stop his vehicle and negligently sideswiped the plaintiff's vehicle.

Jennings seeks trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by attorneys Michael P. Glisson and Gregory S. Motil of Williamson, Webster, Fald & Glisson in Alton.
