St. Clair County pedestrian alleges motorist ran him over

BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County man is suing a motorist for allegedly running him over and causing injuries.

Barry Weltzer filed a lawsuit Aug. 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dana Grabowski, alleging negligence in failing to operate her vehicle with reasonable care for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 23, 2014, Weltzer was working on the side of Concordia Church Road in Stookey Township when Grabowski's vehicle collided with him.

The collision, the suit says, caused Weltzer to sustain injuries and damages, great pain and suffering, plus mental anguish.

The plaintiff alleges Grabowski failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, failed to maintain proper lookout and drove her vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable.

Weltzer seeks trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. He is represented by attorneys Kenneth B. Beljanski and Trent S. West of Brown & Brown LLP in Fairview Heights.
