EDWARDSVILLE — A guest is suing the owners of the Troy Red Roof Inn after she tripped and fell on a triangular section of concrete while carrying her infant.

Holly Schroeder and Christopher Schroeder filed a lawsuit Aug. 9 in Madison County Circuit Court against Red Roof Franchising LLC, MMV Property Inc. and Mahendra Gandhi , alleging failure to protect, failure to warn and negligence.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 23, 2014, Holly Schroeder was attempting to enter the Red Roof Inn in Troy while carrying her newborn and other children. The suit says she fell on a triangular section of concrete separating the driveway, causing her to suffer severe and permanent injuries.

The lawsuit states Schroeder has been deprived of the ability to gain employment and the ability to care for her minor children. The plaintiffs allege the defendants carelessly provided unsafe means of ingress and egress to the premises, failed to illuminate the property properly and failed to give adequate warning.

The Schroeders seeks trial by jury, $50,000 from each defendant, plus costs of suit. They are represented by attorneys Charles N. Therman and Kelli L Mule of Therman Law Office Ltd. in Chicago.
