EDWARDSVILLE — An Alton woman is suing Applebee's, alleging the restaurant served her a meal that contained glass.

Linda L. Harbaugh filed a lawsuit Aug. 1 in Madison County Circuit Court against Applebee's Restaurant, alleging the restaurant served her shrimp scampi that contained broken glass.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 30, 2014, Harbaugh was a customer at the Applebee's in Wood River. While dining, the suit says, Harbaugh was injured in her tongue and digestive tract by ingesting pieces of glass that were in her shrimp scampi.

The suit says Harbaugh expended large sums of money for her hospital and medical treatment. The plaintiff alleges Applebee's failed to observe that broken glass was in its food preparation and failed to serve food that was fit for consumption.

Harbaugh seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by attorney Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm PC in Wood River.
