EDWARDSVILLE — An Illinois man is suing a Springfield transport service company and its driver, alleging their negligence led to the plaintiff sustaining injuries.

Richard Droege filed a lawsuit July 27 in Madison County Circuit Court against Red-E-Mix LLC, Red-E-Mix Transportation LLC and Bill Drummond, alleging negligence in failing to exercise reasonable care for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, on July 31, 2014, Droege was inspecting the load at the Dynergy Power Plant in Alton that the defendants had picked up. The suit says Droege he climbed onto the back of a trailer and, while he was on top, the Red-E-Mix vehicle he was standing on pulled away, leaving him suspended from the truck and causing him to fall.

The lawsuit states Droege sustained injuries to his left foot and left heel and incurred medical bills. The plaintiff alleges Drummond, working for Red-E-Mix, operated the truck in a careless manner and failed to warn Droege prior to moving the truck.

Droege seeks a trial by jury, judgment against each defendant for at least $50,000, plus legal costs. He is represented by attorney Samuel A. Mormino of Mormino, Vellhoff & Snider PC in Alton.
