Mother blames motorist for injuring family

Car accident 37

EDWARDSVILLE — A Madison County woman is suing a motorist, alleging his negligence caused a crash that injured her family.

Maria Foster, individually and as parent and next kin of Jaden Hardimon and Jamia Hardimon, both minors, filed a lawsuit July 27 in Madison County Circuit Court against Erik Clark, alleging negligence in failing to keep his vehicle under proper control.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 7, 2014, Foster was driving her vehicle with her children on State Street near the intersection of Madison Avenue in Alton. The suit says Clark rear-ended her vehicle causing a collision.

The lawsuit states Foster and her children sustained bodily injuries, causing property damage, great pain, disabilities and medical-related expenses. The plaintiff alleges Clark failed to keep proper lookout, failed to avoid colliding with plaintiff's vehicle and drove his vehicle too fast.

Foster and her children seek a trial by jury, judgment of at least $50,000 for each plaintiff, plus legal costs. They are represented by attorney Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
