EDWARDSVILLE — A Madison County couple is suing a Granite City motorist, alleging the defendant's negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiffs.
AC Ware Sr. and Mildred Ware of Madison, Illinois, filed a lawsuit July 26 in Madison County Circuit Court against Abbey R. Meyer alleging negligence in failing to show care to all motorists around her.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 17, 2015, the Wares were traveling south in the curve lane of Madison Avenue in Granite City, when AC Ware tried to stop his vehicle to avoid a collision. At the same time, the suit says, Meyer was traveling north on the same road when she suddenly made a left turn in front of the plaintiffs' vehicle, causing the collision.
As a result of the collision, the lawsuit states, the Wares sustained injuries that led to medical-related expenses and irreparable harm to their health.
The plaintiffs allege Meyer failed to keep her vehicle under control, made an improper left turn and failed to keep proper lookout.
The Wares seek a trial by jury and seek, judgment of more than $50,000, legal costs and other relief the court deems just and reasonable. They are represented by attorney Bill T. Walker of Granite City.
