According to the complaint, on Aug. 21, 2014, while in the vicinity of Cahokia Gas and Minimart in Cahokia, Shamon Hudson, a minor, thus represented by his father, was struck by a vehicle driven by Carter. The suit says Carter currently is incarcerated at the Southwestern Illinois Correctional Facility.
The lawsuit states Shamon Hudson suffered permanent injuries to his right leg and knee, experienced intense physical pain and mental anguish, incurred lost wages and substantial medical expenses. The plaintiffs allege Carter drove his vehicle at an excessive speed, failed to sound a warning of his approach and failed to yield the right of way to the plaintiff.
The Hudsons seeks trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus legal costs and expenses. They are represented by attorney James E. Hopkins of Brown and Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
