Customer alleges Hardee's negligence led to injuries

EDWARDSVILLE — A customer from Worden is suing the owner of a Hardee's, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff sustaining injuries. 

Georgia Gurley filed a lawsuit June 21 in Madison County Circuit Court against CKE Restaurant Holdings Inc. alleging negligence in failing to properly maintain a safe premises. 

According to the complaint, on April 8, Gurley was at the Hardee's in Staunton. When she exited her vehicle in the Hardee's parking lot, the suit says, she slipped and fell, causing her significant injuries to her body, including broken ribs, fracture of her pelvis, soreness and strains that resulted in great pain and disability. The plaintiff says the injuries have required her to use a walker. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to maintain a safe means of egress for elderly customers who use the parking spot, failed to keep the parking area free of debris and allowed negligently decorative river rocks to be on the walkway.

Gurley seeks a trial by jury and judgment of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Greg Roosevelt of Roosevelt Law Office in Edwardsville.
