EDWARDSVILLE — A Madison County customer is suing a local currency exchange, alleging its negligence led to the plaintiff suffering injuries.

Dennis Jacks filed a lawsuit June 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Marilyn Aulabaugh, doing business as a Madison Currency Exchange, alleging failure to warn and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to the complaint, on June 21, 2014, Jacks arrived at the Madison Currency Exchange in Madison to cash a check. The suit says she slipped on an oily surface in the parking lot, causing her to fall to the ground and suffer severe and permanent bodily injuries.

The lawsuit states Jacks sustained great physical pain, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to warn her of the hazardous and dangerous condition, failed to make reasonable inspection of the premises and allowed said premises to remain in dangerous and slippery condition.

Jacks seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus legal costs and such other relief as the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorney Joseph N. Reames of The Law Office of Joseph N. Reames LLC in Wood River.
