EDWARDSVILLE — A man is suing Madison County, operator of "The Madison County Kid's Corner," a child custody exchange center, citing alleged discrimination.

James Agee filed a complaint on June 13 in Madison County Circuit Court, alleging that the county's child custody exchange center violated the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was subjected to discrimination and disparate treatment because of his gender. He says he has suffered actual damages of being forced to sit and wait for 30 minutes each time he exchanges custody of his child. The plaintiff holds Madison County responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide neutral treatment, such as a first-in-first-out rule.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for actual damages, an order enjoining the defendant from engaging in discrimination, attorney's fees and costs and such other relief as is allowed by law or equity. He is represented by Thomas G. Maag of Maag Law Fiirm LLC in Wood River.
