EAST ST. LOUIS — A woman is suing Portfolio Recovery Associates L.L.C., a debt collector, claiming violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Rhonda Winters, formerly known as Rhonda Diesen, filed a complaint on June 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Portfolio Recovery Associates L.L.C., alleging that the defendant sent a response letter to the wrong address.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages as a result of her debt being disclosed to other parties. The plaintiff holds Portfolio Recovery Associates L.L.C. responsible because the defendant allegedly sent the response letter to the wrong address, disclosing the existence of plaintiff's debt to other people.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for actual damages, $1,000 for statutory damages for each violation, all legal fees and any further relief this court sees fit. She is represented by David B. Levin of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman, P.C. in Chicago.
