BELLEVILLE – An estate executor is suing a health care facility alleging negligent care caused her decedent's death.
Sandra K. Wasson, executor of the estate of Kathryn A. Ingram, deceased, filed a complaint on May 9 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Hospital Sisters Health System citing wrongful death.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Jan. 17, 2008, and May 22, 2014, Ingram sought and received medical treatment at the defendants' hospital. On May 21, 2014, the suit states Ingram suffered vertebral artery injury and stroke after a procedure and experienced the loss of use most parts of her of right body, extreme pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress and hospital expenses. The suit states she died on May 28, 2014.
The plaintiff holds Hospital Sisters Health System responsible because the defendants allegedly deviated from the standard of care by injuring the left vertebral artery of decedent, failed to abort the surgery after discovering that they injured the artery and failed to repair the wounds.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by Paul G. Schoen of Schoen Law Firm PC in Belleville.
