BELLEVILLE – A Trenton woman alleges she is responsible for paying a medical bill out of pocket because of the actions of emergency responders.
Monique Weinberg filed a complaint on May 5 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Sugar Creek Ambulance Service, Jim Kneipman, Phil Gray, Craig Kohlbrecher and Don Deien citing personal injury and malpractice.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 5, 2014, she fell and injured herself, became liable for $37,740.77 for an air ambulance bill that was not covered by insurance and lost her left leg due to amputation. The plaintiff holds Sugar Creek Ambulance Service, Kneipman, Gray, Kohlbrecher and Deien responsible because the defendants allegedly deviated from the acceptable standard of care and performed unnecessary medical services when they responded to her home.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount of more than $50,000. She is represented by Margaret J. Lowery of Lowery Law PC in Belleville.
