Woman sues over jail health care

EAST ST. LOUIS — An Iowa woman is suing Correctional Healthcare Companies Inc., Correct Care Solutions LLC and Akinrinola Fatoki, M.D., citing alleged negligence in health care.

Terry Killen filed a complaint on May 19, in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, alleging that the defendants failed to provide proper care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between May 22, 2014 and June 23, 2014, she received medicines in inappropriate amounts and combinations in the Fayette County Jail and sustained injuries. She holds the defendants responsible for their alleged administration of Simvastatin and Gimfibrozil.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in excess of $75,000 plus court costs and any further relief as the court sees fit. She is represented by J. Michael Weilmuenster of Weilmuenster & Keck, P.C. in Belleville.
