Parents of minor driver seek damages after collision

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is being sued after allegedly causing a vehicle collision that resulted in injuries to a minor driver.

Craig and Amy Lombardi, individually and as next of kin of minor Colin Lombardi, filed a lawsuit May 2 in Madison County Circuit Court against Andrew Anderson, alleging negligence and damages owed under the Family Expense Act.

On Jan. 20, according to the suit, Colin Lombardi was driving a 2011 Nissan Altima westbound on Homer Adams Parkway near its intersection with Gerson Avenue in Alton.

The suit says that while Anderson was attempting to make a left turn, Anderson's 1991 GMC truck allegedly struck Colin Lombardi's vehicle.

The suit alleges that Anderson was negligent in failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to keep his vehicle under proper control, failing to yield the right-of-way, and other negligent acts or omissions.

As a result, Colin Lombardi allegedly suffered injuries that required surgery, as well as pain, anguish, disability, and loss of a normal life.

Craig and Amy Lombardi allegedly suffered losses in the form of medical expenses for Colin Lombardi's care.

The plaintiffs seek a judgment of more than $50,000, together with costs of the action. They are represented by attorney Michael P. Glisson of Williamson Webster Falb & Glisson in Alton.
