Woodbridge woman sues man alleging unpaid loan

A Woodbridge woman is suing an East St. Louis man for allegedly failing to pay an owed debt.

Bridget Lanier filed a lawsuit on Sep. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Lawrence Wood, alleging that Wood has failed to pay a debt owed to Lanier for a loan.

According to the complaint, on Sep. 23, 2014, a loan was made from Lanier to Wood in the amount of $85,342. Wood signed and delivered a promissory note promising the full sum on Dec. 1, 2014, or to begin making installments of $5,000 monthly from Jan. 5, 2015. The plaintiff claims Wood has paid only $1,000 as of Aug. 24, 2015.

Lanier is seeking the owed $84,342 plus 5% annual interest and costs of suit. She is represented by attorney Don Cary Collins of Belleville.
