A Collinsville man is suing his former employer over breach of contract allegations.
William D. Anderson filed a complaint on Sept. 15 in Madison County Circuit Court against Prairie Farms Dairy, alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, Prairie Farms Dairy hired Anderson in April 2004 as a maintenance employee. The complaint states the two parties agreed he would make $22 per hour before overtime, and that he would be employed until retirement.
On Aug. 17, 2012, due to circumstances dictated by the defendant, Anderson was forced to leave work under workers' compensation, after which he openly expressed an interest to return to employment with the defendant.
On July 29, 2013, the complaint states, Prairie Farms Dairy requested Anderson return to work. The defendant had a release for Anderson by their physician but neglected to inform Anderson, the suit states.
Then on Aug. 3, 2013, the Prairie Farms Dairy terminated Anderson while he was still removed from work by a qualified physician, according to the complaint.
Anderson seeks contract damages of $655,200, punitive damages of $250,000, damages for lost benefits, and attorney fees and court costs. He is representing himself.
